New 'tourist circuit' in Gwalior hopes to attract foreigners

Gwalior (MP), Mar 9 (PTI) Gwalior, the city of forts, is
expected to attract a large number of domestic and foreign
travelers with the completion of a dedicated tourist circuit.
"We got the approval for a tourist circuit in 2005 at an
estimated cost of Rs 8.5 crore. Now the development and
renovation of Moti Mahal-Baija Taal-Jal Vihar-Italian Garden
complex has been completed. We are expecting a large turnout
of tourists to the city," Congress MP and scion of the Gwalior
royal family Jyotiraditya Scindia told PTI.
The completion of the project will bring direct and
indirect employment opportunity to a large number of people
living here, he said.
The development of the dedicated tourist circuit would
help showcase the heritage of the city to people living across
the globe, Scindia said.
The second and third phase of the project, to connect
Gwalior, Shivpuri and Chanderi and renovate the Chanderi
Palace, will be completed soon, he added.
Jyotiraditya Scindia was here to attend a three-day-long
first-ever 'Gwalior Heritage Festival'.
Organised by the Gwalior Heritage Foundation, the
festival aims to display the grandeur and brilliance of
Gwalior 'gharana'.
The 19th century Moti Mahal, Baija Taal (pond) and Jal
Vihar was part of the tourist circuit that was opened for
public with the inauguration of the event.
