Tickets on the basis of performance, says MP CM

New Delhi, Oct 8, 2008: In an apparent indication that
all BJP MLAs in Madhya Pradesh might not get party tickets in
the coming Assembly elections, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh
Chouhan today said performance will hold key for the
legislators to make the cut.
"We are holding discussions with our workers in all
the places and a decision on the criteria for giving tickets
will be taken only after that. But development will be the
main agenda in the elections," Chouhan told PTI when asked
whether all MLAs would be renominated in the polls.
BJP is holding regular meetings with grass root
workers to weed out any discontent during ticket distribution.
These meetings are being held at all levels to ensure good
show during the forthcoming elections.
Asked about BJP's preparations for the assembly polls,
Chouhan said "people are aware about our development works and
will surely vote us to power again.
"We have been implementing a number of development
works in the fields of infrastructure, industry and
agriculture apart from other schemes. We are planning to
approach the masses with our overall achievement," he said.
The Chouhan government has recently organised
investors' meet at different places in the state to woo
industrialists. It has also signed pacts with a number of
companies for setting up their units in the state.
"We have signed MoUs for industries worth Rs 3,64,000
crore. We would be attracting foreign direct investments
also," he said.
Asked about the possibility of Bhartiya Janshakti Party
chief and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti
rejoining BJP, Chouhan avoided a direct reply saying "I
wouldn't comment on her..."
BJP is all set to bring star power to the state polls
with many Bollywood stars likely to campaign for the saffron
party, sources said.
Elections in BJP ruled Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh
and Rajasthan are due this year.
